Sr Director, EU CAR-T Supply Chain

Boudry, Switzerland

Responsible for the design and build of Celgene’s EU autologous commercial supply chain, and for commercial EU launch of multiple innovative CAR-T cell therapies. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Directly design and implement the EU scheduling and logistics system for Celgene autologous cell therapy products.
  • Lead the design and deployment of Celgene’s EU chain of identify (COI) and chain of custody (COC) process and automated system solution to ensure integrity of this customized therapy
  • Apheresis center assessment, qualification, contracting, and ensuring ongoing GMP/compliant operations with those centers, and
  • Design and build of the regional PBMC cell separation and cryopreservation manufacturing operations, including selecting operating model, building the capacity to meet demand, and qualifying the facilities or mobile units. 
  • Direct, manage and implement activities related to EU forecasting, production planning and material purchasing
  • Lead the Celgene S&OP process and act as supply manager for the commercial cell therapy programs
  • Develop and implement best-in-class warehouse and inventory systems for autologous products
  • Develop, implement, audit and maintain policies and procedures to ensure materials are available to support manufacturing schedules in a compliant environment
  • Evaluate and refine the EU supply chain strategy and develop the plan to achieve agreed strategy factoring both near-term and long-term business considerations
  • Define the organization structure and resources needed to be successful
  • Develop hire and train a specialized cell therapy supply chain management team and create a core competency to be best-in-class in the industry
  • Ensure all actions are conducted in accordance with FDA, MHRA, and EMEA cGMP’s, and regulations from other Government agencies such as OSHA, EPA, DEA, etc. as appropriate.
  • Support the design for manufacturing facility which will include the product flow, facility scheduling, resource management to ensure facility utilization

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • APICS, CSSP or CPIM certification preferred.  
  • General Technical Operations experience including clinical development, commercialization supply operations, regulatory and compliance experience, hands on technical transfer experience, direct plant management, and exposure across all Technical Operations functions.
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience with at least 10 years’ relevant biologics manufacturing leadership and management experience required, & MBA or Master’s Degree, preferred
  • In-depth technical knowledge of biologic manufacturing operations
  • Previous leadership experience with matrix cross-functional groups
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well orally and in writing
  • Experience operating a multi-product manufacturing plant preferred
  • Financial management exposure, awareness, and strong acumen
  • Ability to balance strategic awareness & direction setting with consistent tactical results
