Bioengineer II

Design, perform, and interpret complex experiments in collaboration with process and analytical engineers focused on process characterization and validation, participate in process transfer for process updates, troubleshoot issues, and support GMP manufacturing activities.  Guide engineers and strategic direction for cell culture experiments and communicate with external collaborators.  

 Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Independently design and execute/implement complex cellular process development and optimization studies requiring multiple engineers for execution
  • Organize and analyze data and contextualize to the literature
  • Prioritize scientific and organizational responsibilities
  • Maintain proficiency in analytical skills, statistical analysis, and effective presentation of analysis
  • Solve problems that arise, including those in larger teams and process transfers
  • Collaborate with statisticians to design experiments and interpret data
  • Present research findings to other groups and provide broader scientific guidance
  • Document experimental results in peer-reviewed reports
  • Transfer processes between internal and external partners
  • Lead supply of relevant product material for pre-clinical and analytical development studies
  • Define/maintain a safe work environment in accordance with policies/procedures/regulations

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • B.S. in Biochemical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering or Biology related discipline with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience or M.S. with 4-9 years of relevant experience
  • Creativity to characterize processes for autologous cell-based therapies
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Highly motivated, willingness to acquire new skills and ability to work without supervision
  • Sstrong engineering or scientific knowledge appropriate for cellular process development
  • Ability to assess risk and develop contingency plans for process risks
  • Mastery of mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique along with closed-system solutions
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and preparing regulatory documents
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills to work with teams in different functions and organizations
