The Director, IT Communications and Change Management lead is responsible for the strategy, planning and execution of internal and external communications initiatives and overall organization change management for the Information Technology function. He/She will create, implement and oversee the IT communications messaging platform, brand, and programs, be it internal or external, that effectively describe and promote the IT organization and its services.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and refresh, periodically, the IT communications messaging platform and branding strategy to properly position the value of IT and the role of the IT organization within the enterprise
  • Design and develop a comprehensive Change Management strategy across projects, programs, policies and processes within IT
  • Create and develop a key stakeholder engagement strategy that involves stakeholders who are affected by the decisions of the IT Leadership Team or who can influence the implementation of its decisions
  • Develop related communications and change management plans to ensure successful implementation of these strategies
  • Create and oversee strategic and enterprise communications to ensure quality, consistency and alignment with overall IT Strategy.
  • Develop communications campaigns to inform and educate our internal teams and client base on the IT strategy and service offerings.
  • Directly or indirectly manages supporting resources for communication and organization change management related activities, including external parties
  • Carry out assignments and special projects independently, drawing upon your skills, knowledge and expertise related to communications, organizational development and change management initiatives
  • Advises IT leadership on change impact analysis; identifying individuals/groups/stakeholders likely to affect or be affected by changes within IT
  • Ensure that new change initiatives introduced into the organization help to further the organizational objectives and fit in completely with the IT vision and mission
  • Create conditions for a smooth transition to changes and maximum enthusiasm to adapt to the change
  • Provides and manages the strategic analysis, advice, and education to IT executives and managers on how to recover from change impacts and alignment of organization development initiatives with strategic goals.
  • Champions IT’s communication and brand standards in all internal communications.
  • Develops and manages budgets for internal communications and change management projects
  • Develop a library of communication and brand templates, presentations and press releases for the IT organization to leverage.
  • Draft communications materials, including social media posts, press releases, white papers, videos, marketing collateral and internal emails
  • Define the appropriate communications content and channels (e.g. intranet, digital signage, videos, telestrations, e mails etc.)
  • Ensure internal communications are consistent and build continuity of look and feel across all channels
  • Develop creative ideas and stories through traditional media, digital/social content and events
  • Stay abreast of trends in digital media/social media and inform/educate internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure efforts are consistent, aligned and supportive of the strategic vision of the company
  • Support and coordinate external award submission opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain and optimize the IT intranet and related websites.
  • Support the development of IT Townhall communication content and other leadership messages and interactive forums (e.g. coffee with leaders, celebrations, recognition, etc.)
  • Supports IT leadership as they communicate externally and assists in preparation of slide decks and other materials as needed.
  • Coach individual leaders on IT communications and change management skills.
  • Establish a network of change champions
  • Primary point of contact between IT and the Corporate Communications team, and the HR team for organization change management.

  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines and changing priorities
  • Digital skills and familiarity with information technology and digital channels of communication
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Projects) and Adobe Photoshop

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or Public Relations
  • 8+ years of Communications and Organization Change Management experience in a Corporate environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing a successful Communications Strategy, Brand, and broad Message Platform for a large global organization/function
  • Strong knowledge of relevant systems and functional methods for measuring and developing impact analyses, as well as, the effectiveness and progress of change implementation
  • Extensive knowledge and skill in both oral and written communication; ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a variety of mediums.
