Purpose and Scope of Position
Provide engineering (design) and technical support for multiple aseptic production lines and production support functions to ensure the efficient production of a quality product. Responsible for acting as a technical resource to the engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, and validation departments. This position will be responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, troubleshooting, repairs, start-up assistance, and project documentation as required. Must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming. Provide support to less experienced Control Engineers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide Controls Engineering support to the Maintenance and Manufacturing departments
Provide design support to Project Managers to support the “controls” aspect of projects.
PLC logic and programming with:
Allen Bradley PLCs
HMI and/or SCADA programming and configuration of any of the following software packages:
Ensure individual compliance with the EU, FDA, JP, and DEA regulations, cGMPs and applicable department programs, including training, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure the validated state of all equipment, systems and facilities and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements as well as OSHA, DEA, EPA and local government regulations.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced knowledge and ability to program PLC code and control software, including structured text on multiple platforms, and understand how it impacts and controls the plant equipment.
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, utility and plant systems and the ability to troubleshoot the controls on all equipment used throughout the plant. Intermediate knowledge of The National Electric Code, High voltage up to 460 volts.
Advanced ability to troubleshoot the controls on plant equipment.
Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder logic, and P&ID drawings as well as the ability to read construction drawings.
Strong knowledge of cGMP and OSHA regulations as well as all regulatory agencies the facility adheres to.
Exceptional teamwork, organizational, and time management skills with the flexibility and ability to multi-task.
Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder logic, and P&ID drawings.
Ability to interpret / write general business documents and basic knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering or related science.
Advanced degree preferred.
7 years’ relevant work experience required, preferably in a pharmaceutical or engineering environment.
Project management experience is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may substitute.
